Creating a risk register

You create a risk register by clicking the Create risk register button on the risk register listing screen. Creating a risk register requires you to have the appropriate permissions.

You must select the basis of your new register:

A new project

This option creates a blank Jira project and a risk register that sources its risk data from that project.

You must be a Jira administrator to use this option. It requires you to define both the project name and the project key:

When you press Create, these things happen:

  • a new Business (task-tracking) project is created; and 

  • a new risk register is created, based on the new project; and 

  • risk assessment is enabled within the new project; and

  • the main risk register view opens.

An existing project

This option creates a risk register that sources its risk data from an existing project.

You must define the name of the risk register and also select an existing project.

When you press Create, these things happen:

  • a new risk register is created based on the selected project; and 

  • risk assessment is enabled within that project if it is not already enabled; and

  • the main risk register view opens.

An existing saved filter

This option creates a risk register that sources its risk data from an existing filter. You must define the name of the risk register and also select an existing filter. Only filters that satisfy one or more of these criteria can be used:

  • filters owned by the user.

  • filters shared with a group that the user is a member of.

  • filters shared with a private project that the user has Browse projects project permission for.

  • filters shared with a public project.

  • filters shared with the public.
